In the highlands of Northern Thailand, hill-tribe families once farmed opium to survive. A decades-long effort replaced those fields with arabica and reforested the mountains in the process. The families who were once stateless are now world-class growers — and our partners.

Coffee that protects a rainforest

Indian coffee is grown beneath a living canopy — original jungle trees up to 100 feet tall, intercropped with pepper and cardamom. It yields less than sun-grown farms, but it shelters elephants, hornbills, and the families of smallholders who tend it by hand.
